Star Wars: The Last Jedi BTS Clip Shows Leia Get Emotional With Luke

Now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available on Digital HD, fans finally got a chance to check out the 14 deleted scenes from the film. The documentary titled The Director and the Jedi, which is included as a bonus feature in the home edition of Star Wars: The Last Jedi showcases some emotional behind-the-scenes clips of Mark Hamill.

Twitter user Star Wars Legacy has shared a snippet which shows Luke Skywalker and General Leia Organa portrayed by late Carrie Fisher. The snippet shows the behind-the-scenes version of Luke and Leia’s reunion. Leia can be seen mourning the loss of her son.

This was probably Fisher’s last appearance in the Star Wars franchise as the actress died on December 27, 2016, after going into cardiac arrest. She had completed filming her role in The Last Jedi shortly before her death.

The camera also pans to show the film crew’s reaction to the touching reunion. You can check out the emotional clip below.

Another behind-the-scenes clip was released on Tuesday that showed Hamill getting a bit emotional watching Frank Oz doing voice work for Yoda, the legendary Jedi Master Puppet. Notably, the legendary Jedi Master was shown dead in 1983’s Return of the Jedi. But, director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi featured a cameo of Yoda as a Force ghost.

“Oh my God,” Hamill says in the clip while watching the Yoda puppet along with director Rian Johnson. “It’s really getting to me.”

“I am still jealous he hasn’t aged a day,” Hamill tells Oz. Oz replies back telling Hamill that he’s still “beautiful.”

Other than the documentary and the 14 deleted scenes, The Star Wars: The Last Jedi home release will also include scene breakdowns, an exploration of the mythology of the Force, and director commentary from Johnson.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will premiere on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on March 27, 2018.
