Star Wars: The Last Jedi Digital HD Will Have A Music Only Version, Confirms Director

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is all set to premiere on Digital HD starting March 13 and on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on March 27. Fans are excited about Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s digital release as it will offer a slew of added extras and bonus content.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has revealed in a recent interview with Prime Video that they are going to roll out an alternate music-only version of the film. The Star Wars: The Last Jedi music-only version will have no sound effects, no dialogue or background noises and just longtime Star Wars composer John William’s score.

Johnson explained that this cut of the film will exemplify William’s emotional score, “It’s incredible because you really see the nuance that he rides the emotion of the scenes with and just being able to focus on that music.”

During the interview, Johnson also mentioned that fans will be able to get their hands on the Star Wars: The Last Jedi version music only when they purchase the film on Digital HD or on home video and sign up for a free Movies Anywhere account. You can check out the full interview below.

Notably, Lucasfilm has recently released snippets from the bonus content that will come included with the digital and Blu-ray versions of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The clip has been released on the official Star Wars Youtube channel.

Recently, the studio also released a documentary focusing on the sound designing process of the film. It is currently available for streaming.

Titled ‘Creating Crystal Foxes – Showdown on Crait,’ the bonus clip shows how visual effects artists delve into bringing the crystal foxes to the big screen. It shows the process of how the idea for the foxes came to be, how the design process evolved, and how the digital effects artists worked to bring the crystal foxes to life. You can check out the clip below.

More bonus content is expected to be out once Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases on Digital HD on Tuesday.
