‘Still Cavill type’ – Superman: Legacy star David Corenswet’s bearded bulked up look has fans comparing him to Man of Steel actor

For some Superman fans, David Corenswet‘s preparation for James Gunn’s DC Film is bit by bit transforming him into a Henry Cavill lookalike. The Pearl star’s new bearded look shares some similarities to Cavill’s initial reveal as Clark Kent in Man of Steel. This comes as DC Studios prepares to kick off with its first live-action production if all goes well with SAG-AFTRA’s negotiations.

The Superman: Legacy star was recently spotted in Santa Monica (via JustJared) and appears to be bulking up for his DC Film role. The 30-year-old landed the Superman role in late June and by the looks of it, he has been engaging in muscle-building activities to build a larger physique that the role demands. While David Corenswet definitely looks the part of Clark Kent – the 6-foot-tall actor’s lean build was one of the early criticisms.

Superman: Legacy is currently eyeing a spring filming start date so Corenswet is not short of time to add more muscle to his body frame. Though interestingly, some folks noted that Cavill also sported a similar beard in 2013’s Man of Steel during the oil rig sequence. Readers can check it out below.

Speaking of Whom, since his exit from the DCEU as Superman, Cavill has also been on the radar for his James Bond-Esque spy role in Matthew Vaughn‘s Argylle movie. The Man of Steel star has also been filming an action project directed by Guy Ritchie.

While David Corenswet’s uncanny resemblance to Cavill brings him closer to the Superman look introduced in 2013 – it’s safe to say Gunn’s interpretation would be polar opposite to Zack Snyder’s iteration of the character. Moreover, the new Superman star has also gone on record stating his desire to see the superhero portrayed as Bright and Optimistic.

David has been hush about his superhero gig and the SAG-AFTRA strike has more or less played its part in stopping the actor from addressing it as well. Even so, Superman: Legacy is expected to stay in the spotlight as DCU followers anticipate more casting announcements after the Actors Strike resolves.

Superman: Legacy will be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
