Stranger Things 4 Episode 2 recap: Fans can’t get over Nancy’s friend, Fred suffering Vecna’s curse

Stranger Things 4 Episode 2 has unleashed Vecna’s curse on Hawkins and this time, it’s Nancy’s (Natalia Dyer) nerdy journalist friend, Fred Benson (Logan Riley Bruner) that’s in trouble. After episode 1’s shocking climax with Eddie (Joseph Quinn) and Chrissy (Grace Van Dien), it seems like the Upside Down’s eerie slimy D&D creature is just getting started.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Stranger Things 4 Episode 2

Stranger Things 4 is starting to look more like Game of Thrones with its unexpected death toll by Vecna’s curse in Hawkins. But it’s more traumatizing to watch as Vecna preys on the vulnerable innocent teenagers, eventually killing them, much like Freddie Kruger. Unfortunately, compared to Chrissy – Fred’s death seemed a little more unbearable for viewers to experience as he screams out for Nancy’s help. Readers can check out reactions below.

Way over in California, Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and El/Jane’s (Millie Bobby Brown) date takes a U-turn when the spawn of the devil, Angela (Elodie Grace Orkin) and the entire Leonora community bully her, agonizingly Carrie-Esque enough to push Eleven into cracking open Angela’s nose with a roller-skate. Still, arguably way better than El using her telekinesis, which fans would surely get behind going by social media reactions. And let’s not forget Will (Noah Schnapp), who isn’t enjoying being the third wheel between the two and seems to be having a hard time expressing his feelings for Mike. The series is leaning more towards fan speculations that Will could be gay.

In the world of Adults, Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Murray (Brett Gelman) are reunited and figure out Hopper may have found a way to get “unstuck” from the Russian prison camp he’s in but not without the price tag of a few thousands of dollars.

Meanwhile, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Max (Sadie Sink), Nancy (Natalie Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke), figure out the truth behind Chrissy’s death and realize Vecna has returned while the monster grows larger after consuming its next victim in Fred. While more remains of Stranger Things Vol. 1, the trailers teased a scene showing Max floating near Billy’s grave, similar to Chrissy and Fred. And it has many fans spooked about what lies ahead for Max.

Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
