Stranger Things Season 3 will not air until next year. Fans will have to wait a bit longer before their favorite show returns and find out what’s next for town Hawkins. While we still don’t know much about the third installment, it is certain that trouble is far from over for the town and its people. Executive Producer Shawn Levy confirms the same.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Shawn Levy, accompanied by actor David Harbour, who plays the role of Sheriff Hopper, hinted at what to expect from Stranger Things Season 3.
According to Levy, the show is going to get darker than ever before but it will not disappoint fans.
“[It’s] definitely going to yet darker still, places that I think audiences are going to really love,” Levy told the abovementioned publication. “It’s got so much heart and humor.”
At the same time, Harbour did hint at what Stranger Things Season 3 looks like. He vaguely referred to the “epic” movies of 1985. As per the actor, the show’s next season is inspired by some great movies of mid-80’s. The actor refrained from revealing which movies as it put his in trouble.
“I would go look at the great films that were released in ’85, of which there were many, and just go down that list and think of the possibilities that we could be going with. I think it is a specific season to 1985, and so you’ll see references to that,” Harbour explained.
This explains the casting call that we spotted earlier which revealed that need for extras to portray as 80s looking people and more.
In addition, the actor revealed that they are experimenting a lot this season with a lot of risks. And all he is hoping is that it pays off.
As for Harbour, Stranger Things Season 3 will see a combined version of his character in Season 1 and 2.
“So I think we’ll see a little more of the swashbuckling Hopper you may have liked from Season 1,” Levy said. “It’s almost like [Season] 1 plus two, equals three. It’s like you have this third character now, who goes back to the swashbuckling guy of Season 1, but also has behind him this adopted daughter who he loves very much, so it’s really cool.”
In other news, Stranger Things has received 12 Emmy nominations. Netflix’s megahit series is back in the category for Outstanding Drama Series yet again. Harbour has been nominated for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, along with Millie Bobby Brown in the female category.
Stranger Things stars David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byer, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max, Matthew Modine as Martin, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington and more. The show is currently under production and it will release in 2019.
