Will Byers’ struggle to come out of the closet in Stranger Things season 4 seems to be on point with Noah Schnapp‘s life. On Thursday, The young actor uploaded a video on Tiktok revealing he is gay and since then, fans of the Hawkins/Upside down universe are sharing their exhilarating reaction to the news on Twitter. Though many stans have also brought up Millie Bobby Brown‘s homophobic meme incident from 2017 since the two co-stars have been known to be best friends.

Will Byers, a character revealed to be gay in Stranger Things is being played by an LGBTQ actor. The Queer community has showered Noah Schnapp with an outpour of love since he shared a Tiktok video with the visual title stating, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know’.”

Schnapp further cleared any doubts by writing in the video’s description, “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.” The general reaction from Stranger Things fans seems to be the same as Schnapp’s family, ‘we know’. Moreover, it has also brought up the famous Will Byers weeping scene from Stranger Things season 4 episode 8. It was later revealed by the 18-year-old actor that Will was gay and in fact in love with his friend Mike.

Among the flurry of supportive messages going out to Noah, Sadly, it also brought up the old meme from 2017 which painted Millie Bobby Brown as homophobic and racist in the name of satire. Readers can check it out below.

The infamous troll meme known as #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown was criticized heavily as it quickly gained momentum, eventually bullying the actor into deactivating her Twitter profile. Similar troll-styled reactions are going viral on Twitter, spreading an absurd satire narrative that Schnapp’s coming out of the closet moment would not be taken lightly by Millie.

Meanwhile, the Noah Schnapp news has fans discussing the anticipated Stranger Things season 5. According to Puck, the main cast has apparently renegotiated their contracts with a pay bump with David Harbour & Winona Ryder set to make $9.5 million over the span of eight episodes. Whereas Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin will earn $7M.

Stranger Things season 5 is expected to stream on Netflix in 2024.
