Filming of Netflix’s Stranger Things season 3 continues in Atlanta and it seems like the series won’t be back on the streaming service until the summer of 2019. Recently, we spotted casting calls for extras which suggest fans will be seeing more of the military possibly guarding the Hawkins National Laboratory.
One of the casting calls posted on Backstage (expired) reveals a requirement for three extras to play as ‘Female Soldier’. All 3 roles’ have precise measurements mentioned in the description.
Female Soldier #1 role requires an extra with the measurements of “size 4-6, 34-36 bust, 26-27” waist, 36.5-40.5” hips. Female Solider #2 was required to have “size 8, 36-38″ bust, 28-30″ waist, 38.5-40.5″ hips” and Female Solider #3 of “size 10, 37-39″ bust, 29.5-31″ waist, 39-40″ hips.” The scene is likely to have already been filmed as the filming date was set for August 28.
Similarly, we spotted another expired casting call which revealed the requirement for “1980’s nerds”. Both males and females were required for the role and it seems to have been filled. But the catch seems to be that the casting team was looking for someone who “must be new to show“.
In an earlier interview, actor David Harbour himself hinted that fans will get to see references to the 80s, specifically to “1985” in Stranger Things season 3. This would explain the various casting calls for 80s looking people. Just recently, a new casting call reveals the requirement for “1980s swimmers”.
The description states that both Males and Females applying for the role “must be ok with swimming, will be wearing 1980’s swimsuit.” The filming will take place on September 10 in Atlanta and the extras will be paid $75/8 hrs. Stranger Things season 3 has been teased to be more “darker” and “action packed”. But with that comes “really healthy dose of poppy, bright levity and cultural fun.” (via: The Playlist) Hopefully, it also means that fans could get to some “Jopper” moments in the upcoming season. Even actress Millie Bobby Brown revealed that she is totally “shipping Jopper.”
