Stranger Things season 4 Vol. 2 episode 8 finally addresses Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) emotional struggle with his sexuality and the LGBTQ community cannot stop sounding off for his impressive performance. Taking off right where Vol. 1 concluded, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) is caught in Vecna’s curse and learns Henry/One’s backstory. Meanwhile, in Russia, Hopper (David Harbour), Dimitri (Tom Wlaschiha), Yuri (Nikola Djuricko), Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Murray (Brett Gelman) are stuck in prison, figuring out their escape plan with a Demogorgon on the loose. Here’s a brief catch-up on some of the best moments from Vol. 2’s premiere.

The enormous hype train for Stranger Things season 4 Vol. 2 episode 8 debut managed to crash the OTT service, so that says a lot about fans’ anticipation to learn who could get the ax from Vecna’s curse by the end of season 4 finale. For starters, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) gets her powers back and apparently more stronger than her former self, as Papa had promised.

With Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Argyle (Eduardo Franco) and Will on the way to Eleven’s hideout – viewers finally get to see Will’s wholesome artwork and his internal battle to come out of the closet. Does Will love Mike? Or is he hoping to find comfort from telling to the truth to his best friend, though his cryptic emotions are all over – Jonathan seems to pick up on the cues. Schnapp’s teary performance continues to garner praises left and right, as seen in the tweets below.

Robin (Maya Hawke), who also stumbles with her sexuality gets a painful blow when she sees her crush/bandmate Vickie (Amybeth Mcnulty) kissing her presumed to-be partner. Midst of their love life crisis – Nancy’s little trip uncovers more truth behind Vecna’s power and his relation to the Clock chiming four times, the four gates to Upside Down and four deaths for all hell to break loose in Hawkins. So Steve and his band of Hawkins’ teenagers stock up on firepower to take the fight to Vecna though not without endangering Max (Sadie Sink).

The only death in Stranger Things season 4 Vol. 2 episode 8 was Papa in the climax after Eleven reunites with her friends. But Schnapp has already teased a fan-favorite character would die in the finale. Could it be Steve or Eddie or Nancy? Luckily the answer can be found in Stranger Things season 4 Vol. 2 episode 9 available to stream on Netflix.
