Suicide Squad 2: Scripting In Process, Filming Date Revealed

Earlier last year, it was revealed that Director David Ayer would return to helm Suicide Squad 2. The DC film project was green lit for a sequel thanks to its successful run at box office although it was considered a mess by critics.

Since then, we haven’t heard much about the sequel as the director was also busy with his schedule for Bright. Furthermore, fans were also disappointed to hear that Ayer had moved on to direct DCEU’s Gotham City Sirens. But finally, we have an update on the project thanks to Joel Kinnaman.

Recently Kinnaman was interviewed by THR to talk about his role in House of Cards season 5. The actor was also questioned about his part in Suicide Squad 2 as he gained much fame from the original DC movie.

Fortunately, Kinnaman was willing to reveal that the project is currently underway in the scripting process. Furthermore, he also confirmed that he will reprise his character Rick Flag in the sequel.

“As far as I know they’re writing the script and I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018, but that could change. I think I’ll definitely come back for it.”

Currently, it looks like Warner Bros. isn’t in a hurry with Suicide Squad 2. If the film is slated to begin production in 2018, we could expect its release by the end of 2019 or start of 2020.

Kinnaman has also expressed that he would love to have Ayer back to direct the sequel. However, if the director isn’t available, the actor hopes and wishes for someone else “who is great with character” to take over the project.

Who do you think should helm the sequel project? Let me know in the comments below. For more updates on Suicide Squad 2 and other MCU stories,  follow Pursue News on Facebook and Twitter. Readers can also follow me on my social media accounts for the latest scoops.
