If a new report is to be believed Henry Cavill’s Superman is not likely to show up on the big screen anytime soon, in fact, not even in a cameo role in DC’s highly anticipated film, Shazam!.
During his appearance on the Superhero News podcast, Forbes’ Mark Hughes claimed that Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman will not be making an appearance in Shazam!. However, he did not rule out the possibilities of a change in plans in future considering the fact that the film is still far away from release.
“I know for now it didn’t work out getting Superman into Shazam!, apparently,” Hughes said. “Maybe that will change and they’ll be able to film something. There’s still a lot of time before it comes out. As of right now, there’s no Superman in Shazam! and there’s no movement on a Superman solo movie. All this stuff is going to wait until they know for sure.”
In fact, according to Hughes, the film studio has no plans of moving forward with a new Superman movie for now.
“Superman, I can tell you as of three to four weeks ago, last time I checked in, there is not movement on Superman,” Hughes said. “It’s not currently sitting on the table as a project that they’re looking at moving forward on and there’s no expectation of imminent movement on a Superman project… that’s the situation.”
Well, going with the news, it seems fans shouldn’t expect to see Cavill suiting up in any upcoming DC Films projects for now. Shazam’s arch-nemesis Black Adam was also rumored to star as the main villain in the upcoming film. But, actor Dwayne Johnson, who’s been cast as Black Adam in the DC Extended Universe, confirmed earlier this month that Black Adam won’t be appearing in the David F. Sandberg-directed Shazam!. Instead, it’s going to be Mark Strong’s Dr. Sivana this time around.
Shazam! was literally a big show off at the recently held San Diego Comic-Con2018 event, where the film’s first trailer was showcased exclusively for the attendees.
Shazam! is scheduled to debut in theaters on April 5, 2019.
