‘Supporting people I care..’: Zack Snyder & David Ayer promote Blue Beetle, ZSJL fans and Ayer Cut followers clash with detractors for reaction to DC Studios’ first film, Angel Manuel Soto says he is a Snyder fan

Zack Snyder will be taking his kids to watch Blue Beetle this August and the Snyderverse fandom is shocked to see the ZSJL filmmaker offer support for the DCU film, the first title released under James Gunn‘s Gods and Monsters. The DCEU architect was not the only filmmaker with David Ayer also jumping in to amplify the online reach for the Xolo Mariduena starrer flick, the first Latino live-action adaptation from DC. WB’s marketing department has also begun hyping the upcoming entry through merch.

Aside from the #Bluebeetlebattallion movement from fans – #RepresentationMatters is another hashtag being pushed around on Twitter to market the upcoming first DCU film from DC Studios. The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike has barred actors from participating in promo efforts for their projects so it appears directors from the industry are doing their part to market films.

It is unclear if this is a marketing effort from Warner Bros. similar to The Flash movie which gained notoriety after A-list talent like Tom Cruise mentioned the speedster flick in a good light. As Grace Randolph also noted, “I suspect his more like how WBD got big names to say The Flash was great”.

Zack Snyder amplifies Blue Beetle’s marketing with his post garnering 9 million views & rising

While Snyder remained mum throughout The Flash‘s promotions, even whilst WB continued to market it as a film that aligns with Zack Snyder’s Justice League aesthetics – the director has finally offered his voice for the DC film. But not all Snyderverse fans appear to share the same enthusiasm as the BvS helmer, “Zack Snyder himself could promote this movie and I still won’t go see it” tweeted one user going by @KobeSpurlock. Even so, these detractors are a minority and stans are rather discussing their awe of Snyder’s ability to reach millions through a single tweet.

From the looks of it, Zack’s online reach is comparatively more extensive than Warner Bros., or at least in promoting Blue Beetle. Many fans pointed out that the first trailer tweeted through WB’s official handle failed to garner the same reach as Snyder’s post which currently stands at 9.2 million views as of this writing. Director Angel Manuel Soto has also responded to the kind gesture & revealed he is a fan of Snyder films “since you were doing commercials”

David Ayer also faced pushback for throwing his support to “people I care about”. There is still a large fandom anticipating DC Studios to release the Ayer cut of 2016’s Suicide Squad and especially with the ongoing Actors Strike delaying new projects – the voice for the director’s cut grows larger.

Zack’s response to Blue Beetle has already prompted speculations over a possible collaboration to direct a DC Film for Gunnverse. Some are pitching for Snyder to direct The Authority movie but the filmmaker is currently engaged in building his own universe, Rebel Moon for Netflix.

WBD has faced heat from DCU stans for prioritizing Barbie‘s marketing over Blue Beetle. Its current projections stand at $12-17 million at the domestic box office – an alarming estimate that could make it another failure for the DC film franchise.

Blue Beetle will arrive in theaters on August 18.
