Director Taika Waititi portrayed the rock-like Kronan revolutionist Korg through the use of motion capture in 2017 Marvel movie Thor: Ragnarok. Korg emerged as a breakout character in Ragnarok. Well, Waititi is now back in the shoes of the fan-favorite character for Marvel Contest of Champions’ new Revolution 2.0 motion comic.
A new promo video for the motion comic Marvel Contest of Champions’ new Revolution 2.0 has been released on Youtube. The two-and-a-half-minute video clip shows Korg conducting the first meeting of the committee organizing Revolution 2.0, or as he puts it, the “Re-Revolution.”
The Kronan warrior voiced by Taika Waititi reveals in the video that he has hired Miek (Still Alive) as the recruitment officer. He takes a roll call at the committee meeting for the “Revolution 2.0”, before introducing the possible candidates who could be suitable for inclusion in the group including Captain America’s nemesis Red Skull and Bifrost bridge guard Heimdall.
Korg and Miek’s fate during and after the events of Avengers: Infinity War is currently unknown. But the fact that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has already clarified that he has plans for Korg going forward, suggests that he will hopefully be back in possible Phase 4 films.
Avengers: Infinity War co-writers Stephen McFeely has also revealed in the Infinity War commentary that several Asgardians have escaped Thanos devastating snap.
“I think we should say that several Asgardians have escaped,” McFeely said, giving fans some hope that Korg, Valkyrie, and some others might have made it out.
“Several Asgardians have escaped,” director Joe Russo confirmed in the Infinity War commentary. “I have gone on record saying Valkyrie has escaped with some of the Asgardians.”
Notably, after Disney dropped director James Gunn from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise over offensive old tweets, Taika Waititi has emerged as the fan favorite to replace Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Thor will next feature in Avengers 4 which is scheduled to release in May of 2019.
