Tessa Thompson Wants Valkyrie To Team Up With Black Panther’s Okoye

Thor: Ragnarok actress, Tessa Thompson, is pretty sure that female superheroes will be the future of Marvel. Thompson portrayed the character of Valkyrie in the third installment of the Thor franchise.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress expressed her excitement over the fact that Marvel universe is finally expanding with their female heroes at the forefront.

“I think what we’re seeing, regardless of a lady liberator or an A-force movie or a female ensemble Marvel movie, is that in phase four, women rule supreme,” the Thor: Ragnarok actress said. “We’re seeing a Black Widow movie in the works, which I hear about and is so exciting, Captain Marvel with Brie Larson and DeWanda Wise. We’re seeing that women are at the forefront of these stories [and], of course, with Black Panther those incredible warrior women in that film.”

When Thompson was asked which other MCU characters she would like her on-screen character Valkyrie to share screen space in future, she revealed that Black Panther’s Okoye (Danai Gurira) is currently at the top of her list.

Okoye is pretty cool. I mean Valkyrie would just bow down, I bow down to her. Valkyrie would be like ‘Sis,'” she gushed. “My long lost sis. She’s [the] leader of the Valkyrie of Wakanda. So that would be exciting.”

Tessa Thompson said that she would also like to see Valkyrie cross paths with Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.

Obviously, it’d be so cool to team up with Black Widow, as Scarlett Johansson is sort of OG superhero,” the actress added. “Both [Okoye and Black Widow]. Or just the three of us over lunch.”

Notably, this is not the first time that Tessa Thompson has expressed her wish to work in an all female Marvel superhero movie. Late last year, the actress had admitted that she approached Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, to bring all of Marvel’s female heroes in one frame.

Thor: Ragnarok is digitally available now and it will be rolled out for 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on March 6.
