The Batman first reactions hail DC’s latest as ‘Gritty and fun batman coming of age story’

Early reactions for Matt ReevesThe Batman movie are already in as MTV jumps the gun in holding off first social media reviews for the upcoming flick from Warner Bros.. Fortunately, reviews are hailing DC’s newest take on the caped crusader, going as far as to say Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight will be fans’ new favorite iteration.

It must be noted embargo for The Batman hasn’t been lifted yet, however, post the London premiere’s screening at BFI IMAX – MTV Movies UK social media account released a few early reviews. As expected, critics are raving over The Batman with Hanna Flint from MTV Movies saying, “Matt Reeves Delivers a nail-biting, gritty and fun batman coming of age story.

While most of Hollywood’s trade news websites are staying mum – UNILAD has called the Dark Knight standalone as “Absolutely Euphoric” while Total Film had a one-word compliment, “Sensational”. Empire praised it as “Gripping” and Shortlist as “One helluva movie.” Though, the best review is from Insider stating, “Robert Pattinson will be your new favorite Batman.” You can check it out in the video below.

It’s safe to say no spoilers are among the first reviews and no specific praises for other cast members such as Paul Dano’s Riddler or Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman. Nevertheless, Critics are sure to sound off their opinion over Colin Farrell’s Penguin, especially due to Mike Marino’s extensive prosthetics design to bring Oswald Cobblepot to life.

Reeves even addressed the need for a well-designed prosthetic instead of a mask since the director didn’t want it to “interfere with the emotion.” Reeves praised Morino’s work stating:

”It was so much further than I had imagined. I just felt like coming off that sculpture was this radiating character,” Reeves says. “I actually don’t know Colin as much as I know Oz, because he almost always spoke in character, and that’s the way he looked.”

Fans looking forward to reviews from their favorite critics can visit their social media timeline on February 28, when Embargo for The Batman lifts off.  The movie will arrive in theaters on March 4, 2022.
