As new updates about Matt Reeves’s The Batman movie have started pouring in, fans’ excitement for the film is also building up fast.

A new fan poster for The Batman has surfaced online that showcases the Caped Crusader pitted against Deathstroke in the upcoming Matt Reeves film. Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke had previously appeared in the Justice League post-credits scene.

Notably, Ben Affleck’s version of The Batman film had set Deathstroke as the main antagonist. But after Matt Reeves was roped to helm the project, it remains unclear as to who will be the main villain in the film.

Rumor has it that Reeves’ DC standalone film might likely see the Dark Knight locking horns with the iconic comic book villain, The Penguin. Portrayed by Danny DeVito, the villainous character made its first big screen appearance in the 1992 film, Batman Returns. Variety reporter Justin Kroll stated that if the Penguin doesn’t show up in The Batman then it is likely that the villain could be moved to the upcoming Birds of Prey movie.

Reeves reportedly turned in the first act of his film’s screenplay over the Memorial Day weekend. As per reports, the film will likely feature a younger version of Batman. If those reports are true,  the probability of the 45 years old Ben Affleck to star as the Caped Crusader in the film is almost nil. It would be interesting to find out who Reeves chooses to cast as Batman in his film.

In related news, The Batman movie is rumored that it won’t be part of the DCEU continuity. The film will likely fall under a new banner probably called DC Dark or DC Black that will have no connection to the current DC Films universe. Todd Phillips’s Joker origin film is rumored to be the only film set to be released under the new DC banner.
