The Batman new trailer teases The Riddler symbol, Dark Knight’s cowl & highlights Bruce Wayne

Among DC fans, Batman’s identity behind the mask is common knowledge but the same cannot be said for the people in Gotham City or the DC Universe as a whole. Yet in the upcoming, The Batman movie directed by Matt Reeves, Riddler played by Paul Dano uncovers the truth behind The Dark Knight, as revealed in a new international trailer.

The folks at Warner Bros. Japan released a new version of a trailer featuring Robert Pattinson’s The Batman trying to uncover the mystery behind a series of deaths in Gotham City. Edward Nashton is a masked serial killer targeting the elites in Gotham but in a twist, it seems the Riddler ends up unmasking The Batman instead of the other way around, “I’m here to unmask the truth about this city,”  says Nigma in the trailer.

The Riddler knows who is Batman in new trailer

The shocker moment comes at the end of The Batman international trailer when the Riddler seems to solve the mystery of who’s behind the mask: “I’ve been trying to reach you, Bruce Wayne.”  Readers can check out the trailer below.

The new promotional video offers a few more never before seen moments such as the iconic interrogation point mark by the Riddler, shots of Batman’s cowl, and a series of cryptic cules from the enigmatic villain.

In this new noir-style iteration of The Batman, the DC comics-based movie will explore a “very scary” version of the Riddler as a serial killer rather than just highlighting his goofy riddles.  Furthermore, Reeves also said speaking to Total Film Magazine, “This movie, I think, is probably the scariest Batman that’s been done because of the idea of what Batman’s doing – it’s scary.”  He added, “It’s a detective story, it’s an action movie, and it’s a psychological thriller.”

The Bat’s journey is explored from the year two of his crime-fighting days as the suited-up vigilante. Though, the caped crusader won’t be alone as he comes face-to-face with the other side of people from Gotham’s underworld such as Selina Kyle (Zoe Kravitz), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro) and Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot (Colin Farrell).

The Batman will hit theatres on March 4, 2022.
