The Boys season 3 episode 7 has been censored in India, particularly nudity shots and a scene involving Homelander (Antony Starr) and a cow. Last week, Prime Video India landed in hot water for censoring the orgy fest in episode 6’s Herogasm.
Prime Video India is not taking any chances with its NSFW sequence in The Boys season 3 and this week’s episode is yet again proof of that. Scenes of Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) with two old women pleasuring themselves in full frontal nudity were cut. Brief shots of The Deep (Chace Crawford) receiving oral sex from an Octopus (mollusk) were removed too. But the biggest cut was a sequence showing Homelander milking a cow and taking satisfaction in it in his own twisted weird sense. PursueNews can confirm nearly 20 seconds of the shot have been cut and instead replaced with an extended scene of Homelander just staring. Reader can check out the uncut scene below.
Prime Video India has come under fire on several occasions for self-censorship, even in 2018 – the OTT service faced criticism for censoring The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel by blurring cigarette packs as well as male genital shots. Though speaking on the matter of cows, over 30 minutes of footage was removed from The Grand Tour season 4, especially scenes showing cow organs inside a car. Even American Gods season 1 episode 2 muted mentions of a cow. So it seems the move with The Boys was largely to avoid hurting Indian “cultural sensitivities”. In fact, a dialogue where Homelander says “Captain Al Qaeda” was muted in India.
Unfortunately, it’s likely any disturbing nudity or terms that could be disrespectful to the Indian culture in the next episodes of The Boys season 3 could also be censored. On the bright side, the blood spewing violent scenes remain untouched.
With Homelander and Solider Boy potentially teaming up as Father and Son, it can only mean more trouble for Butcher and Hughie. But luckily, Kimiko is a supe again and Starlight and the rest are also hoping to stop the ragtag duo from kicking the bucket using the Temp V. Clearly, episode 8 will be action-packed extravaganza though hopefully with no censorship for Indian viewers.
