Barry Allen’s speedster abilities as The Flash may have come in handy in impressing Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. But it isn’t of much help in cleaning up his apartment before inviting Iris West inside. However, the scene in question has been cleverly utilized by director Andy Muschietti to include a Pennywise easter egg from the IT movie.
Warner Bros. Pictures have been releasing promo after promo for The Flash, even utilizing Mother’s Day to share a TV spot focusing on Barry Allen’s moments with his mother, Nora Allen (Maribel Verdú). While most of the TV spots have been packed with dramatic emotional moments – the new footage offers a rather light-hearted interaction between Barry and his romantic interest.
As the teaser indicates, The Flash movie won’t be all about multiverse time travel with high stakes throughout the movie. The Flash movie clip shows Iris saying, “Can we talk” to which Barry invites her up to his apartment. However, the speedster makes a run for it to tidy up his home before she walks in.
While Iris is surprised and says, “I’m not gonna lie, it’s a lot tidier here than I expected” – she is soon forced to take back that statement when a load of his mess falls out of a wardrobe. Readers can check it out below.

Speaking of which, there’s a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in the TV Spot while the mess is pushed out of the wardrobe – a trick toy also pops out with a bare glimpse of a clown. It’s clearly a nod to the IT franchise featuring Pennywise the Clown.

There has been no shortage of Horror related easter eggs in DCU movies. In 2018’s Aquaman – James Wan included the Annabelle doll in an underwater sequence. Similarly, Shazam! Fury of the Gods also had a Annabelle reference and the IT movie easter egg adds to the collection. It is unknown if Iris is aware of Barry’s speedster powers in the upcoming movie since Zack Snyder’s Justice League showed Barry using his abilities to save her in his true form without concealing his identity. Though the bigger question among some fans has been if the Snyderverse’s Batman v Superman and ZSJL are even considered canon due to a TV spot suggesting otherwise.
The Flash movie will run in theaters from June June 16.
