The critics have given their verdict for The Flash movie at CinemaCon 2023. From praises for Ezra Miller for portraying two Barry Allens to critics making comparisons to Back to the Future for its impressive multiverse time-travel plot and heart – the DCU movie seems to hit all the notes. With social media embargo up, early reactions have rolled out for Andy Muschietti‘s DC Film so here’s what the audiences had to say.

CinemaCon is on a roll as The Flash movie receives a positive wave of reactions on the likes of Top Gun Maverick‘s response from last year’s event. An unfinished cut of The Flash movie was shown on Day 2 of the theater industry event, as noted by journalist Perri Nemiroff & others.

Prior to the screening, WBD’s CEO David Zaslav told audiences at CinemaCon that he has seen The Flash three times. “It’s a very emotional movie. You’re going to go through all the emotions. To me, it’s the best superhero movie I’ve ever seen,” he said as stated by The Flash Film News.

Critics on the other hand have assured The Flash lives up to the hype with some comparing it to Superman 78 and Batman 89 which stand as the most acclaimed DC Film titles. One reporter, Germain Lussier described the movie as “It’s Back to the Future meets Spider-Man: No Way Home” referencing the humor and heart it delivers whilst also packed with action and surprises.

The Flash movie gets praised as the funniest DC movie & best CBM of the year

Several other CinemaCon attendees also echoed that statement but went as far as calling it the “greatest DC movie of the last 30 years,” as Umberto Gonzalez puts it – though not considering Christopher Nolan movies. While some are stretching it by saying, “is truly one of the best superhero movies ever,” as Matt Ramos notes.

Ezra Miller’s performance has also gotten praise, pointing out the actor did an outstanding job at playing two Barry Allens. The feature is surprisingly being called the funniest DC movie yet but aside from raving over the humor element – Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, Michael Keaton‘s Batman and Ben Affleck‘s Bat sequences have been commended too.

Even naysayers who doubted The Flash movie’s early buzz have positioned it as the finest DC entry. Others like Collider’s Steven Weintraub had a few words of compliment for director Andy Muschietti stating that he “has crafted something special”.

There were no post-credit scenes shown for The Flash though it’s not clear if the movie will have one for its theatrical release since the feature resets the DCU. Though one important detail to surface from the screening reveals The Flash movie takes place 30 years after the events of 1995’s Batman Returns.

The Flash movie will arrive in theaters on June 16, 2023.
