MCU fans who tuned in on the Super Bowl 2023 hoping to witness the first look teaser for the cosmic adventure sequel, The Marvels, are sharing their frustration on social media. The follow-up to 2018’s Captain Marvel is a Phase 5 title next in line after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The second installment would explore a story that intertwines the three superheroes Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) by mysterious powers that swap places.
The Marvels movie is expected to explore a story that takes place on Earth and in space possibly on a planet where speaking through rhymes is the only form of communication. The sequel is rumored to be musical in parts but details are scarce and the only tidbits of info came from the exclusive clip shown at D23.
Expectations over Marvel Studios showcasing The Marvels teaser during the Super Bowl began due to a Deadline report. But sadly, it was soon confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was the only title Marvel Studios had to offer.
Many showed their disappointment by sharing memes featuring screenshots of Supergirl from The Flash Super Bowl trailer. Some also directed their criticism toward chief Kevin Feige for the lack of a Captain Marvel 2 trailer. Readers can check it out below.

The Marvels film has mostly made news for undergoing multiple rounds of reshoots, in fact, it was scheduled for a round of additional photography at the start of 2023. But earlier in December, the project was in the spotlight after fans called to replace the role of Yusuf Khan played by Mohan Kapur, who faces sexual harassment allegations.
The Marvels would be the first film to showcase Monica Rambeau’s abilities after it was teased in WandaVision as well as Ms. Marvel’s – on a larger scale against an enemy that would require MCU’s powerhouse character, Captain Marvel. After hearing Monica explain her powers, Kamala Khan apparently also gives her the superhero name called PHOTON.
The Marvels is scheduled to hit theaters on July 28, 2023.
