It looks like The Marvels movie being delayed is connected to Brie Larson or at least according to a new rumor indicating Captain Marvel 2 star has been the hurdle during reshoots with her on-set drama. In fact, the MCU star has been described as a “nightmare” in the insider report claiming she is a difficult actor to work with.
It’s starting to feel like The Marvels movie has been stuck in a special kind of development hell in the midst of its final phase of additional photography. The Captain Marvel sequel underwent multiple reshoots since wrapping up principal photography – once in July 2022 which came to fans’ notice thanks to Samuel L. Jackson and another was scheduled for January 2023.
The general speculation had raised concerns that the second installment was a mess being reworked by director Nia DaCosta with inputs from Kevin Feige. However, going by Above the Line’s The Hot Mic podcast with Jeff Sneider and John Rocha – Captain Marvel 2 was pushed back as a result of several circumstances, one of which involves Larson clashing with co-star Teyonah Parris.
The rumor states Brie Larson’s strife with the Marvel co-cast is the reason behind the delay. The Marvels was originally set to release on July 28, 2023, but was later delayed to November 10, 2023.
Brie Larson disliked titling 2019’s sequel as The Marvels
It should be noted Brie has shown no signs of a conflict with her latest social media activity portraying the opposite by sharing an image posing alongside Teyonah Parris. The International Women’s day post also had Iman Vellani though Brie does not have any differences with the Ms. Marvel actor.
Jeff Sneider also claimed Larson was not happy with the sequel being titled The Marvels instead of Captain Marvel 2. Readers can check it out in the video below.
This is not the first instance Larson has attracted controversy for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Oscar-winning actress’ white men comments drew extreme criticism eventually impacting Captain Marvel’s ratings on its release. Nevertheless, the 2019 Marvel movie still ended up earning $1.1 billion and became the first female-led superhero feature to join the billion-dollar club. Speaking of controversy, Ms. Marvel star Mohan Kapur also became a hurdle for the Captain Marvel sequel since the star began facing sexual harassment allegations by a minor.
Even with Marvel Studios lacking in delivering any Captain Marvel-related content since Ms. Marvel, the franchise continues to be on fans’ radar. Captain Marvel fanbase was hoping for the first look footage to be showcased at this year’s Super Bowl. Though with the ongoing chaos, the priority would be to wrap up filming and enter post-production before releasing a teaser.
