AMC’s The Walking Dead recently bid goodbye to one of its fan-favorite, original character Carl, played by the Chandler Riggs. It came as shock to the fans and it seems they are still reeling from the loss.
Considering Carl’s involvement in the storyline, no one thought that Carl will become the victim of Zombie apocalypse and meet his fate. The death of the much-loved character is pushing fans to the edge and has clearly affected the fanbase.
In a recently released video, Riggs sat down to watch fans’ reaction to his character’s death and he was quite overwhelmed with it.
In the video, Rigg announces that he will be witnessing the reactions personally. The fan reactions are no doubt quite passionate and heart-breaking. A lot of fans are seen crying in the video.
“It’s never going to be the same,” says one of the fans in the video.“I am gonna cry every time someone says the name Carl now,” says another fan.
Riggs reveals that he himself was surprised and sad when he found out about the end of his character’s story. “I had the same reaction when I was reading the script,” Riggs said when he heard a fan saying that this is so “f**ing hard.”
At the end of the video, Riggs express his gratitude to the fans and thank them for supporting him.
“It’s so cool to see the reactions from you guys and how much you guys have loved Carl over the years. You know it’s all because of you guys. We love you guys. It’s awesome. Thank you so much.” Scroll down to view the video.
Though Riggs expressed his frustration and disappointment with the death of his character, he also revealed that he was proud of the way Carl got to bid farewell from the TV series.
Riggs character has been on the series since the start. Carl was first introduced in The Walking Dead Season 1 episode titled “Days Gone Bye.” The character met his end in Season 8’s episode “Honour.”
