The Walking Dead Season 9 Will Have A Bigger New Narrative

The Walking Dead Season 8 finale will bring closure to the All-Out-War storyline as well as to the all eight seasons in the series. In a recent interview, showrunner Scott M. Gimple revealed that the upcoming finale will give a closure to the oh-so-challenging journey of Rick and gang, and lay the foundation for a new adventure.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gimple who has served as executive producer and showrunner for The Walking Dead Season 4-8 and will soon be replaced by Angela Kang, teased what’s ahead in Season 9. According to the EP, it will be a brand new show and it will be nothing like its past seasons. The ninth season will reportedly be a “bigger narrative” and a new story.

This show will be very much a new show next year and with a bigger, new narrative,” Gimple said. “It was something I was really excited about getting into even before season 8. And so there was just a certain weight in the air of the kind of conclusion that we were getting closer to. It was a weird graduation for everybody.”

Fans are assured that the upcoming Season 8 finale will wrap up all the storylines from the past seasons and conclude the epic battle between Saviours and Alexandria-Hilltop-Kingdom alliance headed by Rick Grimes.

Earlier in March, Gimple also teased the upcoming finale of Season 8 saying it won’t be what many expect but it certainly will be a conclusion. Perhaps, that explains the show’s step into a new direction.

Speaking of the filming of the highly anticipated finale titled “Wrath,” he said it was “just intense.”

There are some really unusual aspects to that too, that the action isn’t just a large battle, but there are things going sort of around the battle,” he explained about the season 8 finale. “And yet, at the same time, the scope is massive. And I guess with so many people, so many characters reaching the conclusion of the story that we’ve been laying out for them over the past few years in some regards, there’s just a lot going on, and a lot of perspectives that we’re shifting between and some very, very big emotional and philosophical movement between just some unbelievably insane things happening.”

The Walking Dead Season 9 is expected to begin filming this May but as earlier expected, it looks like Season 9 won’t be dropping by this October. Fortunately, fans will have Fear The Walking Dead to catch up on as the series returns to air on the finale of The Walking Dead Season 8.

The Walking Dead Season 8 episode 16 titled “Wrath” airs April 15 on AMC. Stay tuned for more updates and information.
