The Walking Dead Season 8 is set to premiere this October and fans are hoping to see some familiar faces return. Heath went missing in Season 7 and his whereabouts remain unknown. Recently, show creator Robert Kirkman has hinted at the return of Corey Hawkins’ character.
Fans know that Heath was one of the residents and supply runners of Alexandria Safe-Zone. He went missing in early Season 7 and there was no explanation to it. It is said that Hawkins took on other movie and TV roles. He made his debut in Fox Network’s 24.
Meanwhile, speaking at the New York Comic Con, Kirkman confirmed that Heath will eventually return to the series. He promised that we haven’t seen the last of him, yet.
“Corey Hawkins…there is an intention to bring him back eventually,” Kirkman said as quoted by Comic Book. “He had an opportunity to go do that 24 show, we wanted to be facilitating and allow him to do that… hopefully, there is every intention that we get Heath back. It’s in contract land, so… Corey is amazing. Kong: Skull Island, that 24: Legacy show he was on was super cool!” he added.
Whether Heath will return this season or not remains unknown. However, when he does, fans are hoping to find out what happened to him when he was away.
Earlier this year, showrunner Scott Gimple talked about the return of the character. Gimple promised that the character will return but refrained from giving out more details.
“We definitely have not seen the last of Heath, period,” Gimple said. “I will say that. I don’t mean to disappoint the Heathies. He will be on the show. He will be within The Walking Dead again.”
Unfortunately, he won’t be returning too soon. According to Gimple, there is “not a huge chance” that Heath will make his much-awaited comeback in The Walking Dead Season 8.
Fans will remember that Heath was last seen with Tara. They were attacked by Zombies on a bridge and the two separated. While fans found out Tara ended up in the water, Heath’s fate was never disclosed. Going by his long disappearance, the character’s return to the show will surely be supported with answers about the time he spent away from Tara and the people of Alexandria Safe-Zone.
An earlier report also revealed some of the new exciting things that would highly interest fans in the upcoming season. The Walking Dead Season 8 premieres Oct. 22 on AMC. More spoilers and updates are expected soon.
