‘They showed Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman’ – Shazam 2 TV spot leaks DCEU cameo but fans are divided

In a surprising move by the Warner Bros. marketing team, a TV spot for Shazam 2 has given away a major DCEU cameo by Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). The brief appearance confirms the role is indeed played by the Justice League star and not a faceless fake version as claimed by some baseless reports. However, DC Film fans are not happy with the big reveal being spoiled early on for the sake of promotions.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has long been rumored to appear in Shazam 2. The Amazonian warrior’s cameo became a topic of interest for fans after the CinemaCon 2022 footage teased Shazam dreaming of a dinner date with the superhero.

While the Shazam! Fury of the Gods TV spot does not show Diana Prince sharing a romantic moment with Billy Batson (Asher Angel) – the promo footage shows Diana Prince telling Shazam, “Stick to saving the world kid” as she walks away. Before her dialogue, Billy in his transformed state signals with his hand movement in hopes of getting Amazonian’s phone number or a date. Readers can check it out below.

Shazam tries his luck with Wonder Woman in the sequel’s TV Spot

DCEU folks that regularly follow the latest updates related to DC Films seem extremely disappointed by the decision to spoil Wonder Woman’s appearance in Fury of the Gods. However, a small yet growing number of fans are also sharing their excitement to watch the sequel in theaters for the sake of Diana Prince, especially since it’s unclear when James Gunn‘s DCU would greenlight a threequel after canceling Patty Jenkins’s DCEU movie.

A few DCU fans also pointed at Shazam! Fury of the Gods tracking a meager box office earning of around $35-44 million on the opening weekend. Some critics blamed the lack of promotions for the DC Film as the reason behind its expected low collection since early reactions were positive. Readers can check it out below.

On the bright side, this could be taken as a sign that Gal Gadot may have a future in the DCU. However, with even Zachary Levi‘s Shazam future riding on the box office earnings – it still puts their upcoming appearance in DCU’s Gods and Monsters up in the air.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
