‘They went with option 1’ – The Flash star Ezra Miller’s apology & mental health statement has DC fans convinced Warner Bros. Discovery won’t scrap

The Flash movie may have been saved from Warner Bros. Discovery’s shelving plans after Ezra Miller’s recent statement addressing his series of controversial antics. The Fantastic Beasts actor was charged with Felony burglary earlier this month and following charges of his serious crimes, it seemed like the last nail in the coffin to the $200 million DCEU flick directed by Andy Muschietti. However, the new regime had three options at play and apparently, fans are convinced the 29-year-old star opted for the first choice.

Earlier this August, reports had emerged Miller was accompanied by his mother at his Vermont home. The DCEU star was in the news after authorities investigated him for allegedly hiding a mother and her three children at his property. This coupled with Miller’s Hawaii arrest and grooming allegations put WBD’s The Flash in jeopardy of becoming a DOA (Dead on arrival) film. However, the studio has explored their options with the worst-case scenario leading to the entire scrapping of the movie like Batgirl. Even so, the first two options include Miller explaining his behaviors by doing limited press for the movie’s premiere.

The recent response from Miller assures their seeking professional help for their ongoing mental health crisis. In a statement obtained by Variety, “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller told the outlet. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.” DC enthusiasts on social media are convinced Miller chose “option 1” in relation to reports that WBD is evaluating all options.

The Flash actor’s response has DCEU fans reaching the conclusion WBD is sticking to releasing the speedster project theatrically. Insiders have noted the movie has tested with flying colors during its early audiences screening. And prior to the statement, Miller had reportedly already engaged in reshoots. Even so, it remains to be seen if Miller will hold on to the role after this standalone flick, especially since several outlets have claimed the studio has severed ties with Miller and won’t be casting him in future Warner Bros. films.

Directed from a script penned by Christina Hodson, The Flash also stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Michael Keaton as Dark Knight, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Antje Traue as Faora.

The Flash movie is set to hit theatres on June 23, 2023.
