This Agatha: Coven of Chaos rumor suggests Aubrey Plaza’s MCU character is stronger than Scarlet Witch

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to introduce quite a few witches from Marvel lore. while Aubrey Plaza‘s character was let slip by Patti LuPone as one among the coven – a new rumor suggests her power level not only puts her in the top-tier league but also makes her more stronger than the Scarlet Witch.

From Mephisto’s possible cameo to theories surrounding Agatha’s possession of the Darkhold – rumors surrounding Agatha: Coven of Chaos are shaping up the Disney Plus project into one of the most anticipated in-development TV shows from Marvel Studios. Filming is still underway so plot details have been under wraps, including Aubrey Plaza’s role being undisclosed.

It was only thanks to LuPone that MCU fans found out she and Plaza are one of the witches of the coven which includes Ali Ahn and Sasheer Zamata too. However, the recent claim has stans speculating if she could be playing Death herself, a character known for her interaction with Thanos and Deadpool in Marvel comics.

According to trustworthy scooper CanWeGetToast, “On paper, Aubrey Plaza’s character in Coven of Chaos should be stronger than even the Scarlet Witch”. Going by that insider’s statement – it appears the character as written in the script possesses abilities/powers that one-up Wanda. Nonetheless, it does not necessarily make her the biggest threat if she is indeed playing the cosmic entity in the MCU but would still brand her as an overarching antagonist.

Another industry scooper DanielRPK added Plaza’s MCU role is “such a huge secret” and while he couldn’t share the details he still revealed “she’s a “Big deal” to Marvel comic readers and even non-comic book readers will know that character”. This has some fans speculating she could even play Morgan Le Fay or a gender-swapped Mephisto.

Meanwhile, there has been no sign of Elizabeth Olsen possibly filming a cameo for the WandaVision spin-off series. Though knowing Marvel, the studio could even have plans to film her appearance behind closed doors to keep it a surprise though nothing is certain. So far, it appears to be a Kathryn Hahn-centric show as it should. She was last seen being trapped in the Hex-influenced Westview world playing the role of Agatha.

WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer is directing the show and also serves as the head writer. The series also reportedly stars Heartstopper actor Joe Locke, likely playing a grown-up version of Billy Maximoff. The series is still rolling the cameras in Atlanta.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos does not have a release date attached yet.
