Sorry folks, reports of a leaked poster from Thor: Love and Thunder doing rounds on the internet has been debunked by director Taika Waititi. The vibrant promo appears to be fan-made and features Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in a colorful new blue suit and Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor in the spotlight.
The fourth standalone flick featuring MCU’s long-standing Avenger will introduce a new God of Thunder through Portman. The 40-year-old star is reprising her role as Jane Foster, though theories floating around indicate she will take on the reign of Thor by becoming worthy of lifting Mjolnir. Adding to the rumor mill, the new poster showing Jane holding Mjolnir added more excitement among fans as can be seen in the tweets below.

Speaking of theories, Waititi is known for dropping by on social media to either hype or cancel a growing discussion over Thor: Love and Thunder. This particular tweet from the Thor 4 director arrived quickly to put an end to a fake poster. Waititi retweeted the now-deleted image saying, “This is so bad that I kinda wish it was an official poster. It’s definitely what I would have done if I was in charge of posters”.

While there’s no doubt Marvel Studios’ official posters are high in quality, some vibrant colors in the now-debunked poster match the director’s choice of color tone for his Marvel films. Nevertheless, MCU’s Phase 4 multiverse narrative couldn’t kick off without the involvement of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, who is absent in the leaked poster. Yet, to reiterate the director’s words: “it’s definitely what I would have done if I was in charge of posters.”
Fans falling for fake posters or even scenes edited to convey a different message isn’t new with Marvel Studios especially since a similar tactic was used during promotions for Avengers: Infinity War. It’s already argued that the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home also follows a similar marketing strategy. Fortunately, this particular poster’s debunk puts a rest to the never-ending dissent over the uncanny new costumes and looks.
Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022.
