Thor: Love and Thunder toy hints God of Thunder’s hesitation to enter battlefield after Avengers: Endgame’s Thanos outcome

Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to take off right where Avengers: Endgame concluded, teasing Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder on a new journey with the Guardians of the Galaxy. After defeating Thanos for good, Thor vowed to be his true self rather than what others wanted him to be – which led to Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) becoming the next King of New Asgard. Now, new merchandise for the fourth installment teases a connection to MCU’s last ensemble flick from the Infinity Saga and apparently even Thor’s hesitation in jumping into the battlefield after the outcome on Earth.

While Thor 4 revisits Odison’s adventure after the events of Thor: Ragnarok and Endgame – it will also explore/establish a new God of Thunder worthy of wielding Mjolnir in Jane Foster’s (Natalie Portman) Mighty Thor. Nonetheless, the upcoming fourth installment is largely expected to address Thor’s voyage while facing a new threat in Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) in midst of trying to “figure out exactly who I am.” Fortunately, a new toy line indicates Thor’s past could play a consequence in stepping him back into action.

The debut trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder offered a glimpse into Thor’s newfound peace and his reluctance to pick up Stormbreaker except as humble tools for peace. One particular scene also shows the God of Thunder in alternate attire donning a red biker jacket and about to face an army of sorts. But Thor’s conundrum may be a hurdle as noted in this merchandise description, “Long after the Avengers defeat Thanos, the Guardians of the Galaxy convince Thor to return to the battlefield!” (via: Murphy’s multiverse).

The official plot from Marvel Studios states Thor: Love and Thunder as: “The film finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. ”

Thor: Love and Thunder also star Jamie Alexander reprising as Lady Sif along with the Guardians of the Galaxy namely Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Dave Bautista as Drax and Karen Gillan as Nebula. Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theatres on July 8.
