Recently, Concept artist Andy Park shared a set of concept designs developed during the initial stage. The designs will give Thor: Ragnarok fans ample reasons to be glad about the ultimate choice.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok is one of the most successful Hollywood films churned out from the industry this year. The film was praised not just by MCU fans, but also won the heart of critics. Everything from the setting to the attire worn by the actors was discussed. Concept artist Andy Park took to Twitter to share the designs he had created for Thor/Chris Hemsworth. Along with the photos, he tweeted:
“Alternate gladiator Thor concept designs I did on Thor: Ragnarok. The artists and I did well over 100 of these trying to find the right look. Taika originally wanted him to be very Kirby-like. The 1st 2 were attempts (not approved.. except the helmet).”
While fans would be divided on their opinion over the below concept designs, Waititi’s decision to not approve them was based on the film’s tone. It was earlier revealed that the film would draw inspiration from Kirby’s works. And as Park said, the director seemed intent on adapting a style that shouts ‘Kirby’.
Check out the photos and the tweet below.
Park has been associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite a while now. He has worked on almost all of their films, which includes Doctor Strange, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy. He will continue to showcase his prowess in Marvel’s upcoming films – Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Captain Marvel movies as well.
Thor: Ragnarok’s domestic total as of December 17th shows as $306,527,536 million. Made at a budget of $180 million, The threequel managed to gross approximately $536 million worldwide, as per Box Office Mojo.
Thor: Ragnarok is playing successfully in theaters worldwide.
