DC Comics live-action web series Titans is currently in the final stages of production and the details are being kept secret. Meanwhile, fans are curious to find out when the much-hyped series will premiere. Even though the showrunners are yet to reveal the actual release date, we now know for sure that the show starring Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft and Ryan Potter in leading role will debut later this year.
In a recent interview with television show host Mario Lopez on Mix 93.1, Titans actress Minka Kelly who plays the role of Dove confirmed the news. The actress refrained from revealing the actual date but confirmed that the show will be launched soon after the launch of DC Comics streaming service website, DC Universe.
“So DC Comics is launching their own streaming service, and they will be launching it with this show in the fall,” Kelly told Lopez during the interview.
Titans will be one of the first and most anticipated series to be aired on DC Comics video on demand service that will be operated by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Digital Networks. The streaming service was announced in April 2017 and it will be launching its beta version in Aug. 2018. The subscription service will include comics, TV shows, and movies. Besides Titans, the streaming service will also be launching Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol as its first few original series.
Back to Titans, a latest report from Splash Report has leaked plot details from the series. The website has allegedly posted a breakdown of the pilot episode. It states that pilot episode focuses on the leading group of Titans including Robin, Rave and Starfire. The show reportedly debuts with a flashback which introduces Robin and Raven. At this point, Robin, formally known as Dick Grayson, is not in a good space and it’s been a decade since the Flying Grayson incident.
In addition, the show introduces characters like Detective Rohrbach and Wolf. The series will also introduce Raven, formally known as Rachel Roth. She is very childlike and her mother Angela is having a tough time taking care of Raven. At the same time, the main antagonists from the series, The Acolyte is introduced too.
Starfire, formally known as Koriand’r, is first seen caught up in the middle of a car accident. Previously, a few set photos teasing Starfire’s look led to a backlash. However, this scene that introduces her takes place at night after a Disco Party.
The above-mentioned website suggests that Titans is “not a series for children” as it features “multiple f-bombs and s-bombs.” The publications reveal that it seems they are going for an R-rating.
DC’s Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Robin, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Lindsey Gort as Detective Amy Rohrbach, Minka Kelly as Dove, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Dwain Murphy as Negative Man, April Bowlby as Elasti-Girl, Jake Michaels as Cliff Steel, Bruno Bichir as Dr. Niles Caulder, and Conor Leslie as Wonder Girl. The show is scheduled to premiere in fall 2018 on DC’s digitals streaming service.
