Early concept art for Warner Bros. Tom and Jerry movie has recently popped up online teasing what fans can expect from the film live-action/animated hybrid.
Posted on Twitter by SuperBroMovies’ Daniel Richtman, the concept art features Jerry standing on the shoulder of Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence, with Tom the cat standing by her side. Notably, Jennifer’s inclusion in the concept art doesn’t confirm that she will star in the Tom and Jerry movie as no official casting announcements have been made yet.
Concept artists often use pictures of stars hypothetically while planning out the look of any movie. For instance, the concept art for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie featured Chris Pratt, but, the role ultimately went to James Marsden. You can check out the concept art below.
In the following tweet, Richtman confirmed that the upcoming movie will have a female human as the lead.
“Should clarify; Like the Sonic movie concept art with Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence is who they WANT for the film. Doesn’t mean they’ll get her…It does, however, confirm the movie will have a female human as the lead and that they want a J-Law type of actress for the role,” Richtman’s tweet read.
The Tom and Jerry movie will be helmed by Tim Story whose filmography includes Ride Along and Fantastic Four. It is reported that the studio will not be casting voice actors to play Tom or Jerry. Instead, they will be silent, same as the way they are seen in the animated cartoons.
The filming will likely begin later this year in Warner Bros. Studio Leavesden, England. A release date hasn’t been set yet, but, if everything goes as per plans, we can expect to see the film sometime in 2020.
