Tommy Wiseau Continues His Campaign For The Joker Role

Amid reports that Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix is in the final stages of talks with Warner Bros. and Todd Phillips to play the Joker in the upcoming character origin movie, Tommy Wiseau has expressed his wish to play the iconic clown prince of crime in the movie.

“Yes !  I want to be THE JOKER !,” the tweet reads.

Wiseau’s latest tweet also had a fan art by @aitesamfarooq02 which showed him in the Joker avatar. Notably, when Wiseau came to knew that Phillips is casting Phoenix for the role of the Joker, he took to Twitter to express his desire to play the iconic character of Batman’s greatest villain.

In his earlier tweet, Wiseau called out Phillips to send him a DM. While the tweet didn’t clearly state that he wants to play The Joker in the origin movie, it did suggest that he thinks that he is a better choice than Phoenix to play the legendary DC villain.

Wiseau is best known for producing, directing and acting in the cult classic, The Room. Twitter users had some amazing reactions to Wiseau’s tweet. In fact, prolific graphic artist BossLogic came up with a rendering of Wiseau as The Joker. His artwork depicted how The Room actor would look like playing clown prince of crime on the big screen. You can take a look at the artwork below.

Todd Phillips’ untitled Joker movie is being described as an 80’s crime film with a dark and gritty tone. Co-written by Phillips and Scott Silver, the film is said to get some inspiration from Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. The filming of the Joker movie is likely to begin as early as this year, as revealed in an earlier report.

To recall, Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s Batman film, The Dark Knight, got him a posthumous Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2009. Jared Leto is currently playing the clown prince of crime in the DCEU.
