While Sony Pictures’ Venom is still a few months away from its October 2018 release, a new website is letting fans visualize how their face would look like when taken over by the Venom movie’s fearsome symbiote.
The new “We Are Venom” website enables users to create an edited picture of themselves with half of their face taken over by Venom. The picture will look similar to the film’s official poster released last month.
The poster in question shows Tom Hardy in mid-transformation as Eddie Brock a.k.a. Venom as he gets overpowered by the deadly symbiote. The poster showcases the two sides of the anti-hero. You can check out the poster below.
While Venom’s storyline and plot details are still kept under wraps, fans are expecting that Sony will go for a distinctly darker, Rated-R tone for the film. Venom co-creator Todd McFarlane is hopeful that his character will get similar treatment as Wolverine and Deadpool for his big screen debut.
“The only thing that’s warming my heart – I mean Tom Hardy is obviously a good choice – the thing that’s warming my heart is they’re saying it’s going to be R,” McFarlane told ComicBook.com in an interview last year. “So now the question is (and I haven’t read the script), like what does that mean? Because again, we’ve seen a couple “R movies” right? I mean we’ve seen Logan and we’ve seen Deadpool… So it would be interesting to me to see what they do.”
“I mean I know what I would do if they gave me that character; I would scare the sh*t out of people with it,” the Venom creator added. “I don’t know if they want to go that far with it, cause again, you can sell a lot of shirts and toys if you don’t completely scare people, so it will be interesting.”
Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji), Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) and Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey). Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film along with Executive Producers David Householter and Stan Lee. The film stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Riz Ahmed and Jenny Slate in the lead roles. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is also expected to do a cameo in the film.
Venom is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 5, 2018.
