It was previously reported that the upcoming show will be bringing some new characters to life. Lindelof confirmed in his recent post on Instagram that the show will not be a straight adaptation of the original series. Fans can expect to see a new story as well as unknown characters.

It is said that the pilot of the series will be featuring the iconic event for the comic book, The Police Strike of 1977 wherein the police department of the country went on strike for their jobs which were now being done by the superheroes, also known as costumed vigilantes.
