What project is Aquaman 2 star Jason Momoa hinting? DCEU fans theorize James Gunn has enlisted Andy Muschietti for Justice League 2

The wheels are turning at DC Studios under James Gunn so Aquaman 2 star Jason Momoa is thrilled by the future plans in store, so much so that the Justice League actor released a cryptic video discussing the “greatest news of his life”, possibly hyping a big event DCEU feature film. The fans are already theorizing the hints dropped in the clip, many suggesting Momoa may have teased The Flash director Andy Muschietti’s involvement in the next ensemble flick.

Since Gunn took the helm for WBD’s DC Film, TV and animation projects, the DCU fandom has eagerly awaited an update on The Suicide Squad director’s plans. Earlier this week, the filmmaker assured that the new regime is “open to everything” and that may or may not even involve releasing David Ayer’s director cut of Suicide Squad. But what comes after that and the release of The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Well, the new heads may be working on a Justice League 2 project, or at least that’s what the rumbling among insiders and fans indicates.

DCU fans think Jason Momoa teased Andy Muschietti directing Justice League 2

In a recent interview with ET Canada, Jason Momoa addressed his excitement for the future under Gunn and Peter Safran‘s watch, especially with Henry Cavill‘s Superman returning to the world. Although he carefully pivots from sharing any spoilers, the actor says, “one of my dreams come true will be happening” thanks to the two DC Studios CEOs. But the bigger hint was in the earlier selfie video shared by Momoa, in which he seems to directly send his regards to a mysterious individual and ends the recording stating, “maestro”.

The Flash Film News fan page on Twitter was quick to point out that Muschietti’s nickname on the set of the speedster flick was “maestro”. The theory was also retweeted by other insiders like KC Walsh. While it isn’t concrete proof, fans on social media are suggesting Gunn might have greenlit Justice League 2. In addition, the dissent on Twitter has left the fandom divided with some preferring Zack Snyder to helm the sequel.

Jason Momoa has been a big proponent for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, showing his support since the early days of the Snyder cut campaign. So it’s understandable that some believe or hope that the star was referring to the past DCEU architect. However, with Snyder engaged with Rebel Moon and possibly an entire franchise spanning out from the sci-fi flick, it’s unlikely though not entirely out of the realm of possibilities.
