UPDATE: Wonder Woman 1984 Ropes In Indian Actress Soundarya Sharma For An Undisclosed Role

Wonder Woman 1984, starring Gal Gadot, is currently well into production and filming. A new report suggests the filmmakers have tapped in Indian actress Soundarya Sharma for an undisclosed role in the Wonder Woman sequel film.

UPDATE: A new report coming from Times of India has stated that actress Soundarya Sharma has not been tapped for an undisclosed role in Wonder Woman 1984 yet. In fact, the actress has laughed off the reports and says that she is a part of the superhero film and says that nothing has been finalized yet.

I did go to  New York a couple of months back and gave auditions for four films, one of which was ‘Wonder Woman’. After that I haven’t heard anything. When I read reports that I have apparently been finalized for a role in ‘Wonder Woman’, I was amazed, shocked and confused! I would be the happiest if I would get to work in my favourite film, but nothing has been finalized yet.”

The actress also denies giving the below statement and has stated that she would not speak about the news.

According to TheHindu.com (courtesy to IANS), the Ranchi Diaries fame actress is expected to begin shooting for the film by October end. The details regarding Soundarya’s role in the film currently remains under wraps. There also no word as to where the actress would be filming.

This I can say is a ‘dream coming true’ situation,” Sharma said in a statement to IANS. “It’s exhilarating to be a part of such a larger than life character film where you get to play your dream role. I have always dreamt of playing such a character and idolized it.”

Sharma’s statement sounds like she will be taking on a substantial role in the film.

Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 already stars Gal Gadot as Amazonian warrior goddess Princess Diana/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva and Pedro Pascal and Ravi Patel in undisclosed roles.

Last week, it was announced that Oscar-winning film composer, Hans Zimmer, has been finalized to score the music for Wonder Woman 1984. Zimmer is also on board to score for Fox’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Set in the 1980s, Wonder Woman 1984 will see Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman facing the villainous Cheetah. In the comic book storyline, Barbara Minerva is a British anthropologist who gets possessed with the spirit of Cheetah during an expedition to an African jungle. While fans have already seen Gadot donning her superhero costume in leaked set pictures, Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah look is still under wraps.

Director Patty Jenkins has co-written Wonder Woman 1984 along with Dave Callaham and Geoff Johns. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Jenkins, Stephen Jones, and Gadot are producing the project.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set to premiere in theatres on November 1, 2019.
