Wonder Woman 2: Is Diana Introducing Steve To The 80s Culture?

The highly-anticipated Wonder Woman 2 titled Wonder Woman 1984 has finally started filming and it’s none other than director Patty Jenkins herself who shared the first official photo from the sequel on social media.

Interestingly, the picture shared on Twitter features Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor wearing a black jumpsuit and a pair of worn-in Nike Cortez sneakers. So, it’s now confirmed that despite sacrificing his life during World War I, Trevor is alive and well in 1984. or is he?

Welcome to WONDER WOMAN 1984, Steve Trevor!,” Jenkins captioned the picture on Twitter.

Steve Trevor appearing in Wonder Woman 1984 suggests that he managed to survive the plane explosion in Wonder Woman or perhaps, Steve has been resurrected. For now, we’d like to choose the latter going by the recent clips and photos.

Set videos and some pictures that popped up online suggests that the Wonder Woman 2 actress is introducing Steve to the new world. From the looks of it, this seems to be Steve’s first experience witnessing the mall culture. Furthermore, another set clip shows Steve having a lost and longing expression when he sees a couple of youngster breakdancing on the floor. Clearly, this seems to be all new to him.

In Wonder Woman, it was Steve who introduced Diana to “Jolly Old London”. Its quite the role reversal to watch Diana hold on to Steve as he’s shown to be mesmerized.

In any case, Chris Pine’s hilarious interaction with the fan filming from the set shows that scene would clearly serve as a spoiler. Pine asks the fan to stop filming in a nice way. Check it out in the clip below.

There are several ways Steve could come back to life which has been explored in the comics. It would be interesting to see how the character would play a role with Diana facing off Cheetah. but it looks like we’ll first get to see the iconic villain as a friend rather than an enemy.

A new tweet coming from Vulture’s Kyle Buchanan claims that Wonder Woman 1984 will begin with Minerva as Diana’s friend, rather than her enemy. He added that Minerva will first try to emulate Wonder Woman and then try to step into her shoes.

There’s a slim chance that fans can expect some form of teaser at SDCC 2018 this July. With Justice League, Zack Snyder had shot trailer footage just to showcase at SDCC. Similarly, James Wan did the same for Aquaman.  But its release would specifically be just for the SDCC attendees. but as usual, fans can expect trailer description from journalists who get to watch it at Hall H. Lets hope the rumors are true.

More pictures and videos from Wonder Woman 2 sets are expected to pour in as the film has officially entered the filming phase.
