There’s finally some good news for Wonder Woman fans. The highly anticipated sequel Wonder Woman 2 is likely to take the next step towards its big screen release soon. Charles Roven, the producer of DC Extended Universe’s Wonder Woman, has confirmed that the shooting of the movie will kick off sometime this summer.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, when Roven was asked about the status of the Gal Gadot-led film, he said the makers are currently busy developing the screenplay of the film.
“We’re in what I would call the development of the screenplay,” Roven said. “We finally, I think, have a good story to tell. Not kind of – we do believe we have a good story to tell. And then we’re also just moving out of what normally we would call soft prep into hard prep. We’re hoping to start shooting the movie sometime this summer, and hope to have it out by the end of ’19.”
Previous rumors claim that Wonder Woman 2 will be set in the 1980s and the film will operate under the working title ‘Magic Hour.’ It is rumored that the filming of the movie will take place at Warner Bros. Studios in England. Another new report suggests that the adventure flick could see Wonder Woman tangling with the fan-favorite villain Cheetah.
Wonder Woman 2 will feature Cheetah as Barbara Ann Minerva who is a British anthropologist who becomes the avatar of a cheetah god after mistakenly finding her way into an ancient ritual. As per the report, Warner Bros. had approached Emma Stone to play the character, but the actress turned down the opportunity.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 2 is set to land in theaters on November 1, 2019. The star cast of the film includes Gal Gadot reprising the role of Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Ewen Bremner as Charle and Said Taghmaoiu as Sameer.
