Earlier this week, a report confirmed that Director Patty Jenkins was in her final negotiations in helming Wonder Woman 2. Although Warner Bros. is still yet to make an official announcement, it looks like the news spreads quick in Hollywood.
Recently, Oscar winning actress Geena Davis revealed her interest in playing a role for DCEU’s Wonder Woman 2. Furthermore, she also went all the way to asking Director Patty Jenkins as well.
Davis revealed that she spoke to the director of the project during her interview with Variety. Going by her comment, she seems to be interested in playing a role much similar to Connie Nielsen, an Amazonian. Here’s what she had to say.
“I met Patty Jenkins and I told her, ‘I’m sure you’re going to make a sequel and if you need anybody Amazonian, there’s always me. I’m available.”
For those unaware, Davis won an Oscar as the best actress in supporting role category for her performance in 1988’s The Accidental Tourist. She was also once again nominated in 1992 for her leading role in Thelma & Louise
It looks like the success of the debut film would, in fact, help Patty Jenkins bring in more talent for the sequel. Earlier, the director revealed that Charlize Theron was also offered a role in Wonder Woman but unfortunately the actress turned it down.
Fortunately, According to Refinery 29, earlier during San Diego Comic-Con Theron restored faith when she revealed her enthusiastic interest in the possible chance of working with Jenkins again. By the looks of it, if the director offers Theron another opportunity to play in Wonder Woman 2, the actress would most likely take up the role.
Wonder Woman 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 13th, 2019. An earlier rumor reportedly revealed that the story will be set in the 1980s where Diana gets to fight the Soviets.
