Warner Bros. and DC Films’ have reportedly roped in Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal to play a key role in Wonder Woman 2. As the film’s storyline is still kept under wraps, nothing much about Pascal’s role in the upcoming movie has been known yet. This will be the second time that Pascal will be working with director Patty Jenkins. The two of them had previously worked together on the TV movie Exposed.
The 42-year-old Narcos star is the third actor who has been confirmed for Wonder Woman 2, as per the report from Variety. The other two being Gal Gadot reprising the role of Diana a.k.a Wonder Woman and Kristen Wiig as Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva, a.k.a. The Cheetah. No other cast members have been announced yet.
Pascal is popular for his roles in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Narcos and The Great Wall. His past credits also include The Mentalist, Graceland, The Good Wife and more. Some of Pascal’s upcoming films include The Equalizer 2, Triple Frontier, and Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk.
Rumors are that Wonder Woman 2 will be set against the ’80s background and will take place during the end of the Cold War. Charles Roven, the producer of DC Extended Universe’s Wonder Woman, confirmed last month that the makers are still in the process of developing the screenplay of the film. Roven also confirmed that the shooting of the movie will begin in the U.K .sometime this summer.
Fans’ expectations from Wonder Woman 2 are very high considering the fact that the first Wonder Woman movie was a blockbuster film. Made on a budget of $149 million, the film successfully grossed $822 million worldwide. The film’s massive success forced Warner Bros. to churn out a sequel to the film.
Patty Jenkins, who is the director Wonder Woman 2, will also be co-writing the film’s screenplay alongside Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham.
Wonder Woman 2 is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
