Wonder Woman 3 confirmed at DC FanDome, director teases

During the DC FanDome 2021 presentation, Director Patty Jenkins confirmed that Wonder Woman 3 is already in the works. The news discussing the much anticipated DC threequel began as a conversation between the director and actress Lynda Carter during the event.

Carter began speaking about the project stating, “In Wonder Woman 3 which I can’t wait for hear you to come out with (anything);” with Jenkins adding: “You can’t wait to hear my not talking about.”

The discussion over Wonder Woman 3 didn’t stop there with both guests hinting at a possible appearance by Carter.

“We’re super excited about Wonder Woman 3,” Jenkins added. “Gal, who is so bummed not to be here, who is the busiest person in the world with now three little kids and shooting, she’s so bummed not to be able to be here. But we are all three very excited about some exciting things coming up with Wonder Woman 3.” Carter cryptically added, “Who would have thought in my life at this time in my life that this gift would just present itself to me, and that’s so cool.”

DC Comics’s Jim Lee also shared a tweet posing candidly with Carter, confirming that the threequel is in the works. Check out the tweet below.

Jenkins earlier confirmed that Warner Bros. had green-lighted a threequel during the premiere week of Wonder Woman 1984. However, it seems the third installment could set the stage to explore the world of Amazonians on a larger scale.

Wonder Woman 1984’s mid-credit scene has already established Carter as the character Asteria. It was noted that the legendary warrior held off men during the Amazonian’s battle against them. Her sacrifice led way to Zeus creating Themyscira, for the Amazons to escape.

Gal Gadot donning the Golden Eagle armor in Wonder Woman 1984 in fact belonged to Asteria. It seems the third film may explore a possibility where both Wonder Women could exist.

Wonder Woman 3 does not have a release date attached yet. Readers can watch Jenkins and Carter discuss over the threequel at 3:08:20 below.
