Wonder Woman 3 confusion has DC Film fans questioning DCU leadership, Gal Gadot stans argue actress didn’t lie about returning: ‘DC humiliates yet another talent’

Wonder Woman 3 confusion has DC Film fans questioning DCU leadership, Gal Gadot stans argue actress didn’t lie about returning: ‘DC humiliates yet another talent’

Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman 3 situation feels like a full circle to Henry Cavill‘s Superman scenario with the Black Adam movie, only for the Man of Steel actor to be told his iteration did not have a future under James Gunn‘s DCU. Similarly, a new Variety report says the Heart of Stone actress was not promised a threequel as she earlier indicated but Gadot has double-downed in a recent interview stating DC Studios chief Gunn & Peter Safran have assured her, “You’re in the best hands.”

From Snyderverse’s DC Extended Universe to Gunnverse’s DCU – one thing that appears to be a constant is the mixed messages from WBD executives in charge of the superhero franchise or at least that’s what the fans believe. Since the forced exit of Henry Cavill’s Superman, DC Studios chiefs are yet to offer a clear answer on who remains onboard from the Snyderverse.

The Flash and Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ weak box office results have cast doubt on Ezra Miller and Zachary Levi‘s return in Gunnverse. In addition, Diana Prince’s cameo roles in the aforementioned films were not as impactful as fans hoped & have led to a call from some for a full reboot. Even so, it didn’t stop Gadot from revealing James and Peter were developing Wonder Woman 3.

Surprisingly, Variety claims its sources say Gunn & Safran have no current plans to pursue the threequel at the moment as their focus lies on Superman: Legacy and other DCU projects announced at the slate presentation earlier this year. Moreover, the outlet also says “nothing was ever promised” to the WW84 actress regarding a follow-up and there was no “definitive discussion” of Gadot’s DCEU character continuing in Gunnverse.

Gadot stills stands by her word and while speaking to Flaunt Magazine discussing her profile, the 38-year-old star went into detail on her meeting with the DC Studios CEOs. She also went on to imply these were their words, “and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you” They proceeded to share their admiration for her portrayal and assured “You’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

Some insiders and supporters pitched in to suggest Gal was not lying about her meeting with James Gunn since the latter had also revealed on Instagram they had an interaction. James also said at January 2023’s DCU slate reveal conference, “We’ve talked to Gal. She’s up for doing stuff. We’re not sure what we’re going to do with that. All I can tell you really right now is Henry and Ben are not part of this universe.”

Gadot’s reply and Gunn’s silence amid this drama have fans not only puzzled but frustrated by the lack of clarity on DCU’s roadmap. With no clear indication of her inclusion in Chapter 1 of Gods and Monsters – fans speculate Gadot’s Diana Prince/Wonder Woman could be reduced to just cameo appearances.

To some extent, Patty Jenkins‘s exit was also tied down to Wonder Woman 3 not having room to be a part of DCU Chapter 1. She stated during in a statement posted on Twitter/X there was nothing she could do “to move anything forward at this time.”

Similar to Gadot’s WW limbo, DC Studios has not confirmed if Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Shazam, The Flash would appear in Gods and Monsters. None of the DCEU characters have a project announced in Chapter 1.
