X-Men: Dark Phoenix- Evan Peters’ Talks Quicksilver’s Growth & Arc

2oth Century Fox’s next X-Men installment titled X-Men: Dark Phoenix or just Dark Phoenix will see the fan-favorite speedster, Quicksilver, turned more matured and responsible. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Quicksilver is a mutant who has the superhuman ability to move at great speeds.

Actor Evan Peters, who portrays the character of Quicksilver in the X-Men films, revealed some updates about his character in a recent interview.

He’s definitely a little older and more mature, a little more subdued,” Evans told Screen Rant, “sort of trying to make a, not a name but trying to do right by the X-Men and be a good guy and use his powers for good, so I think he’s on that path at the moment.”

Peters debuted as Quicksilver in the 2014 film X-Men: Days of Future Past and then he reprised his role again in the 2016 film X-Men: Apocalypse. He also did a cameo in the recently released Deadpool 2 and will return in the 2019 film X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Talking more about X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the film’s writer-director Simon Kinberg recently revealed that the upcoming film would be less grounded, more intense, a little less operatic and hopefully more relatable as compared to other X-Men movies.

Kinberg said the Dark Phoenix film will be more connected to the original comic book plot than X-Men: The Last Stand‘s attempt at the Dark Phoenix comic saga. Furthermore, the next X-Men installment will also likely feature extraterrestrial characters, which has not yet appear in any other X-Men franchise film before.

Premiering in theatres on Feb. 14, 2019, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Nicholas Hoult as Beast,  Alexandra Ship as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops.
