Promotions for X-Men: Dark Phoenix is ramping up as the film is closing in on its release. A new music video released in favor of the movie’s marketing campaign has offered fans first look at a new X-Men character.
The fan-favorite mutant is none other than Alison Blaire a.k.a Dazzler. The character’s appearance has seemingly been confirmed thanks to the film’s tie-in video song, “Extraordinary Being” by Emeli Sande.
Exactly two minutes into the video, viewers will notice a blonde woman in an all-white jumpsuit surrounding by light energy which seems to be under her control. You can check it out below.
Fans’ who have been following updates related to Dark Phoenix since the start would be well aware of Dazzler’s cameo which was confirmed last year. There were fan theories that Singer Taylor Swift would portray the role but it was later debunked. But the film’s delay due to reshoots and change of release date once again begged the question if the planned cameo managed to make it to the theatrical cut.
Fortunately, the teasing glimpse of Dazzler from the music video seems to confirm her cameo but the actress playing the role still remains a mystery. Though the studio might release more TV spot as part Dark Phoenix promotions, it is unlikely we’ll get to see Dazzler in any of it.
Dazzler’s appearance on the big screen was first planned in the early 1980s when Gary Goddard was hired to write the solo project and Bo Derek was going to play the character. The idea was eventually scrapped and the character hasn’t been a part of the X-Men canon since then except for an Easter egg from X-Men: Age of Apocolypse deleted scenes.
Aside from the feature film, Dazzler is set to make an appearance in Marvel’s Tigra and Dazzler— Hulu’s upcoming animated Marvel series.
Dark Phoenix hits theaters on June 7th.
