From revealing Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock to introducing Baby Rocket Raccoon, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer was a rollercoaster of emotions and excitement for SDCC Hall-H attendees earlier on Saturday. Unfortunately, the rest of the world will have to wait a little longer to see the debut trailer and James Gunn’s response to a fan regarding the delay assures it’s for all the right reasons.
Marvel Studios Hall-H reveals were mostly filled with official new logos from MCU Phase 5. Still, a few upcoming titles like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever unveiled a first-look teaser during their panel. While the latter’s footage is available to view online, GOTG Vol. 3 was not part of that equation, leaving many saddened – one fan even tweeting to Gunn, “Wish we all could have experienced the @Guardians trailer yesterday,” writing to the director with a still of Baby Groot. “It’s truly sad how Marvel holds your amazing space opera work of art from us the fans.”
The Guardians helmer responded by saying, “I wish you could have too. But it’s not just Marvel, it’s also me. Although I love the teaser some VFX aren’t where I’d want them to be for repeated views & close inspection — remember we didn’t wrap long ago — so you’ll have to wait just a beat! Sorry!”. Readers can find the tweet below.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wrapped up production just this May so it’s understandable that the trailer’s VFX shots could either be incomplete or as Gunn stated, not in the right form as the director would’ve hoped for. Nonetheless, it seems the wait won’t be long though for now, fans can deduce the details from trailer descriptions. As aforementioned, Adam Warlock and Zoe Saldana’s Ravager Gamora were shown in the GOTG Vol. 3 SDCC teaser footage.
Speaking of footage, Marvel also shared a new trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, a teaser for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Secret Invasion series. However, Ant-Man 3 and Samuel Jackson‘s Nick Fury starrer series were safely guarded inside Hall-H from leaking out to the world.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pine as Star-Lord, Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Chukwudi Iwuji as High Evolutionary, Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog and Vin Diesel as Groot, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theatres on May 5, 2023.
