While the popular Star Wars character Luke Skywalker met his finale fate in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Mark Hamill will still voice the character in the second season of the animated series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.
Hamill will be voicing the younger Luke as he trains with Yoda, the legendary Jedi Master, in the swamps of Dagobah during the time period of The Empire Strikes Back. The episode has been titled The Path Ahead.
The short shows an animated recreation of the moment when Yoda tasks Luke with carrying the Jedi Master in his backpack through the trees and swamps of the planet. R2-D2 is also shown beside Yoda. You can check out the animated short video below.
The episode description reads as, “Struggling with his Jedi training, Luke is grateful for master Yoda’s offer to join him on a sojourn through the trees and swamps of Dagobah, until he learns that Yoda will be riding in his backpack! Minding Yoda, Luke learns to trust what he feels instead of what he thinks he sees.”
Notably, this is the second interaction between Luke and Yoda. Frank Oz recently reprised the role for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The film featured a cameo of Yoda as a Force ghost. The new documentary included in the home video release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi captured the emotional reunion between Mark Hamill and Yoda.
“Oh my God,” Hamill says in the clip while watching the Yoda puppet along with director Rian Johnson. “It’s really getting to me.”
“I am still jealous he hasn’t aged a day,” Hamill tells Oz. Oz replies back telling Hamill that he’s still “beautiful.” You can find the video below.
