Zombieland 2 To Start Filming In January, Director Offers Progress Update

Director Ruben Fleischer has finally offered some new update on his next film Zombieland 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2009 horror-comedy Zombieland.

During a recent interview with Fandango, while promoting his upcoming film Venom, Fleischer revealed that Zombieland 2 will begin principal photography at the beginning of 2019.

Yeah, we’re just at the very early stages, but we have an amazing script, and we’re going to start shooting in Georgia in January,” Fleischer said.

He also talked about the film’s cast members who will be returning for the sequel.

I’m thrilled,” the Venom director said. “We’re already actually starting Zombieland. I’ve been scouting and storyboarding and getting it going, and to get to work with that cast again is just an absolute dream come true. It’s been really exciting starting to think about that movie, and to get to work with Emma, Jesse, Woody, and Abigail once again is truly a dream come true.”

When asked if there would be more zombies in this sequel he said a yes.

Yeah,” Fleischer added. “I mean, it’s been 10 years, so who knows what the world will look like at this point?”

According to a listing on Production Weekly, production on Zombieland 2 is speculated to begin starting January 28. The film will shoot in Atlanta and Tennesse. As per the listing, the working title for the Zombieland sequel is “Zombieland Too.” Well, at this point of time nothing much is known about the film’s storyline or plot.

Written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who also wrote the original movie, Zombieland 2 will see actor Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin reprising their roles.

Venom releases in theaters on October 5, 2018, while Zombieland 2 is set to arrive on October 11, 2019.
