As the release date of Sony’s standalone Spider-Man spinoff film Venom is inching closer, a lot of new information about the film has started to pop up. Venom marks the first film out of Sony’s Marvel Universe. A new report coming from Deadline suggests Sony has roped in Ludwig Goransson, the composer behind Marvel Studios’ blockbuster Black Panther, to score the music for the spinoff movie. Ludwig’s work, especially his Killmonger theme, has received a lot of appreciation.
This will be Goransson’s second collaboration with Venom director Ruben Fleischer. He has earlier worked with Fleischer on 2011 released 30 Minutes or Less. The composer has also previously scored for Central Intelligence, We’re the Millers, and Everything, Everything.
The Spider-Man spinoff film has already wrapped up shooting. The movie will feature Tom Hardy in the role of Eddie Brock who is a reporter-turned-Spider-Man nemesis. The first trailer for the film was released last month which gave fans a glimpse of Hardy’s Eddie Brock as the famous villain-slash-anti-hero. The symbiote’s story is expected to be based on Marvel Comics fare in 1993’s Venom: Lethal Protector limited series and 1995’s The Planet of the Symbiotes storyline. It is rumored that Peter Parker will also show up for a small cameo in the movie.
Recently, there have been rumors that claim that there is very less of Venom, the half-human, half-alien creature, in the anti-hero’s solo movie. Hardy himself took to social media to clarify the alleged rumors. He posted a picture of an ominous face eater skull logo to Instagram with a caption that read, “Just saying Venom suit – myths usually asinine circulate about things usually by those who have failed to garner credible intel.” You can check out the post below.
Venom’s star cast includes Michelle Williams as Anne Weying/She-Venom, Jenny Slate as Dora Skirth, Riz Ahmed as Dr. Carlton Drake, Scott Haze as Roland Treece, Woody Harrelson and Sope Aluko.
Venom will debut in theatres on October 5, 2018, followed up by another Spider-Man spinoff film Silver & Black that is set to arrive on February 8, 2019.
