It seems Marvel Studios’ greatest film ever, Avengers: Infinity War is basically so to say a Thanos biopic movie which portrays the Marvel villain in the best manner possible. In fact, Thanos has the maximum screen time in the film which also has the largest plethora of Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes.
LRM Online recently caught up with Avengers: Infinity War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for an exclusive interview. When the writer duo was asked what hero they really loved writing for in the film, they had only one answer, Thanos.
“Thanos himself, because he’s so strong, confident, philosophical,” McFeely said. “He’s not generically evil, so he has good reasons for doing what he’s doing, and you borderline agree with him. And he’s always very compelling guy, to sort of dig into his justification.”
Markus added to it saying that Thanos is the engine of the story. Just as the train follows the engine, Avengers: Infinity War follows the Mad Titan. The film keeps showing up Thanos as other Marvel characters come to stop him.
The writer claimed that Avengers: Infinity War is completely different than almost every other MCU movie as the antagonist in the film sort of mirrors the main here. The presence of Thanos amidst 23 main superheroes has helped to give the film a completely new structure.
Recently, in another interview, Markus and McFeely could not stop themselves from praising Thanos’ character. They admitted that he’s not the antagonist but the protagonist in Avengers: Infinity War.
They also revealed that they initially considered showcasing Thanos’ Lover Lady Death in Avengers: Infinity War as the character was quite prominent in the Infinity Gauntlet comics. In fact, as per the Marvel Comics storyline, Thanos’ sole purpose to collect the infinity stones was to earn Death’s love.
Fans will get to see Thanos fighting the Marvel superheroes when Avengers: Infinity War hits theatres on April 27th.
